Our job at Connecture is to allow organisations to work much more effectively, reduce their running costs, and operate more sustainably.
How do we help them to achieve this? By enabling them to take advantage of the latest intelligent building technology available.
It’s about securely integrating everything they do onto one cloud-based platform, that runs over one physical infrastructure. We’re talking things like their data, security, lighting, and AV. This is so they can view and manage everything from one portal, using any device they choose, in any location.
That’s no mean feat!
And while we – Connecture – have the smart buildings and know-how, we rely heavily on the pioneering range of products created by our industry partners. Like the Dome Series of security cameras, designed and delivered by market-innovators, Verkada.
THE DOME SERIES IN A NUTSHELL
Most organisations, no matter what sector they’re in, require security solutions to act as a crime deterrent. But, the way organisations want to view, share, and respond to their footage has changed enormously over the years.
Gone are the days of DVR (digital video recorder) and NVR (network video recorder) propositions, that limit organisations and bleed their budgets dry.
Instead, clients want enterprise-grade security that exploits smart technology. Like the Dome Series by Verkada – in the form of plug and play, cloud-based cameras that produce quality images, and are incredibly simple to install and manage.
Mike Johnson, our operations director, says: “The Dome Series is a lovely range of smart cameras. The quality is second to none, the footage is easy to view, manage, and share – and I know Verkada take security very seriously, which is very important to Connecture and our clients.”
HOW THE DOME SERIES MAKES OUR JOB EASIER
Once the structured cabling is in place to support the PoE (Power over Ethernet) cameras, the Dome Series is extraordinarily easy to install. But, before we embark upon installation at the client’s premises, the cameras are shipped to our HQ in Derby. There, we commission the cameras, install any updates, and allocate names to each of them.
On most jobs, Verkada takes the lead in planning where the indoor and outdoor cameras are to be positioned onsite – working closely with our team and the client.
The cameras work out-of-the-box, so installation is relatively quick and seamless.
Given that the Dome Series is so user-intuitive, post-installation we expect very few cries for support from the client. The quality and durability of the cameras means we always feel confident they’ll last beyond their 10-year warranty.
ALLOWING ORGANISATIONS TO WORK MORE EFFECTIVELY
The Dome Series of security cameras bring flexibility and convenience to busy organisations who don’t have the resources to deal with the limitations of outdated security solutions.
How?
1. Through remote monitoring capabilities
Users of the Dome Series can remotely access real-time and historical footage from any device including desktops, smartphones, and tablets. Additionally, the quality of the images is top-notch.
Remote access is hugely beneficial to facilities managers, who aren’t always onsite. This was particularly useful for companies during the coronavirus lockdowns.
Alerts can also be sent to users when there’s a problem. For example, when there’s an unexpected intruder that’s entered a building.
2. Faster find times
There’s nothing worse than spending hours trying to locate the footage associated with a particular incident. Fortunately, this is something our clients no longer have to put up with. The Dome Series of cameras allow you to preview thumbnails to quickly find what you’re looking for.
They also come with People Analytics capabilities. This is where you can perform face searches to instantly find an individual on screen.
For example:
• Date
• Time
• Facial matches
• Clothing colour
• Gender appearance
• Backpack detection
• Vehicle make, colour, and body type
3. No technical expertise required
We wouldn’t be doing our job properly if we provided a solution to a client that was too complicated for them to fathom and use.
The Dome Series of security cameras start from the premise that end-users aren’t technical experts. For us, it means our clients can reap the benefits from day one and don’t necessarily need us after project completion.
REDUCING RUNNING COSTS FOR ORGANISATIONS
The industry has moved away from the old DVR and NVR security solutions. This is partly because they’re too expensive to install and maintain, unlike Verkada’s Dome Series.
The Dome Series allows our clients to:
1. Scale-up smoothly
When we plan and install security solutions for our clients, we’re always mindful of what their organisation might look like in the future.
We want to provide them with security that’ll easily grow with them as their organisation evolves over the years.
Whenever a client requires additional security cameras from the Dome Series, they can add them with ease, without the need for extra equipment. No plug-ins or configurations are needed.
2. Lower their running costs
HELPING ORGANISATIONS TO OPERATE MORE SUSTAINABLY
Once our clients have their structured cabling in place, not only can they run their security cameras over these cables, but it’s also possible to integrate other devices into the mix, like environmental sensors.
The SV11 environmental sensor from Verkada can actually be paired with the Dome Series of security cameras. Beyond helping to achieve your sustainability goals, it can also act as a security deterrent. For example, by detecting smoking and vaping incidents.
With these sensors, organisations can monitor things like air quality, temperature, humidity, motion, and noise. In addition, users can be automatically notified to unplanned changes in an environment.
IN SUMMARY
We want to work with smart building products that are easy to install and help our clients to transform how they work today. We believe the Dome Series of security cameras help us to do that.
